Since you’re on the __ why don’t you drop to your knees. (Eazy-E, 1992 – including the blog title)

Apparently, the “N-Word” controversy has cropped up again. Whoopie Goldberg argues that black people have reclaimed the hurtful word and have made it their own and that they (black people) have the right to use it any way they so desire. Sympathetic white people such as Elizabeth Hasselbeck say that the word shouldn’t be used by anyone especially since there is a double standard associated with the word. Jesse Jackson says it shouldn’t be used in public but then uses it himself to refer to black people. A white comedian (Michael Richards) uses it on stage during a comedy show and is vilified by it but Chris Rock uses it in every other sentence and he is a comedic genius.
Double Standards are wack. Consider this.
SB News Service
(New York, NY) -75 African American child molesters were lynched in their community today by other African Americans who condemned vile acts of child molestation. The white community stood by and allowed the lynchings to occur because “lynchings have historically been a symbol of degrading black people” and “we don’t want to get involved in it.”
Katie Couric asked the leader of the lynch mob how they have justified lynching the criminals in their community and lynch mob leader Al Sharpton said, “lynchings are now the property of black people. We are the only ones allowed to use them and any white person who questions our actions is racist.”
“But that seems like a double standard, Mr. Sharpton,” Ms. Couric asked him. “Not only is it not a double standard,” Rev. Sharpton replied, “but if a white person lynches another white person, that’s racist too.”
“Oh, well, that makes perfect sense,” Ms. Couric acquiesced. “Now, what if a white person commits a crime against a black person?” she added.
“Well, we will lynch them too.”
Rush Limbaugh on his radio program stated that “lynchings are cruel and unusual punishment and shouldn’t be used by anyone as a form of punishment.” Presidential Candidate Barry Obama issued a press release stating, “this is further proof that Rush Limbaugh is a racist and should be taken off the public airwaves.”
Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation in Congress today to reintroduce the “fairness doctrine” so that the point that lynchings aren’t a cruel and unusual form of punishment is given equal airtime. But when questioned as to whether white people should be able to say on air that oppossing black on black lynchings is not racist, Nancy Pelosi said, “Racist speech like that should not be allowed on the public airwaves, period.”

Words are Words. A word only has power when you associate power with the word. This is satire and I’m guaranteed to get mean comments because of the title that Eazy-E wrote. I’m personally offended by the phrase “the n-word.” It’s like the villain in the Harry Potter books and movies whom no one could say his name but he was always hanging around.
Here’s a piece of a post I wrote on April 1st: Words are only words. Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. Sick of reading or hearing people refer to words by the first letter. “the N-Word, the C-Word, the F-Word, the other F-Word, the G-Word followed by the D-Word, and so on. How is saying “the N-Word” any less offensive than saying the actual word? It’s the conotation and meaning not the verbal expression. Don’t believe me? Walk up to Suge Knight and with a snippy tone say, “You ain’t nothin’ but a N-Word.” The result will be the same as if you said the actual word. http://scottbrooks.com/2008/04/01/republican-or-democrat-or-libertarian-or-disenfranchised/
UPDATE: Before I wrote this post if you had googled Scott Brooks, I would have been the fourth search result. I had steadily been climbing for months about one slot per month. Since I wrote this post, I have steadily dropped all day even though visits to the website have been through the roof. Now, I have gone from 4th to the 10th search result in less than 1 day. So, I believe it’s the result of the use of the N-Word. So in order to stop the bleeding I have had to purge this post of the words google must find offensive. If you had googled scottbrooks all run together, I was first, now it’s second behind a twitter site. Sorry google for my transgression.
Tell me again how it is the idiot Sharpton continues to find his way to the airwaves and monopolize my precious time and brain cells that I won’t ever be able to get back as a result of his constant freakish banter. Can’t someone, ANYONE, get this moron who calls himself a “reverend” to shut his yappy pie hole. I think I’m going to take down my mailox in my front yard, erect a cross in it’s place(or at least on top of the stake to take the place of the box), try to get a tax exemption as a result by claiming my property as “religious territory” and then can I too, pleaaaase oh pretty please, call myself a reverend? I love this post! Title is fine. No nasty grams from me. I mean, Easy-E made a killing off his record, right? The title just encourages our young ones to repeat the history of the word. So really, we have Easy and Sharpton to thank for keeping the word good and alive through our youth of the world! Now…here’s the million dollar question. Am I black or white based on my name….and do I have certain rights to the word depending on that answer? I mean, by name alone, some may say “yes,” like our good friend Sharpton. You get brownie points for being a genius if you can figure that out. Thought provoking and fun blogs…I’m a fan…keep up the good work!
Once in a while you stumble across something as point on as this post. The double standards kill me.
I landed here because of this post and I read on through post after post of hilarious and funny and thought provoking just random stuff. How you aren’t one of the most popular sites on the internet is beyond me. If you keep it up, you will be one day. Thank you for a fun 2 hours. Oh, and little known facts about Scott Brooks are crazy!
A “F-WORD” MEN, Brother
Not only do some white people want the word to go away, black people should especially want it to go away. When was the last time you heard a Hispanic refer to him or herself as the “S” word, or a Jew refer to himself as the “H” word, or an Italian refer to himself as the “W” or “D” word? Come on, people who use that word, black or white, are keeping a horrible word out there. It amazes me that the very blacks who exercise liberal use of that word are the first to yell in outrage when the Kramer guy or other white people use it. If we blacks use that word, we are giving others permission to use it, also.
Racist? You’re the least racist person I know. I always thought you’d marry a black girl. But, since you never got married I guess we’ll never know on that one. I do think that because you know your own heart that you think you get a pass on repeating the word or saying whatever you want to say and call out whoever you want to. Just remember if you ever say it to me I will still whip your ass, nigga. Peace. Oh, and where’s my track you promised me like 5 years ago?
When I read the blog today, all I could think when I saw the headline was…
Oh, No He Didn’t! He did NOT just print the N word 6 times! Six times!
Maybe it would make a good cover for this real high quality magazine I like! Well, there have been other times reading this blog, I’ve had the same, Oh, No He Didn’t moment, like the one a few months ago w/ the picture w/ the fetus. Uhhh, yes, I still cannot get that picture out of my mind….. Very graphic but I guess that’s why I like this blog, you never know what you will read from day to day! Great stuff!
Can’t wait to read more!
I’d like to send a shout out to Shanae who is now addicted to this blog and looks at it during boring concerts and every other free moment she has….
So, is she white or is she black?
Wow, that was an incredibly dumb blog post. Chris Rock isn’t heralded as a comic genius because he uses the N word, it’s because he’s actually y’know funny. Michael Richards is NOT a stand up and nor has he ever been successful besides riding Seinfeld’s coattails. If Richards had used the N word and said something of substance and y’know something that was funny, he would’ve been applauded instead of condemned.
Please do not write about comedy again. It is glaringly obvious you just want to be controversial, but it’s so predictable, it’s hack. God, why do I read blogs?
